Overview

You have been invited to Spark, which is the future of deployed ordering and inventory management technology. As Spark will be rapidly evolving, we will not exhaustively cover how to use the platform herein, but early adopters report that navigating and using the app is intuitive. Don't be afraid to just click around the app to explore how it works.

Connect to WiFi

Spark requires WiFi in the store to sync with MR Williams and to print. Open the Settings app, navigate to WLAN, ensure WLAN is on, and then select the WiFI network for the store. Depending on how the store WiFi is setup, you may only need to enter a password, but some stores, often in larger store chains, may have additional requirements to connect a device to WiFi.

Download

Spark will come loaded on the device left in your store. If you can't find the app on the home screen (first screen you see when powering on and unlocking the device), please tap the "app launcher", which is the white circle with 6 dots / or white "^" up arrow at the bottom-center of the home screen. This will open a screen of all apps on the device. Scroll through this screen to find Spark. If still you can't find the app, please call for further assistance.

Get Started

The first time Spark is opened, you will need credentials that links the app to the store you're authorized to order for. These credentials are created by M.R. Williams and once entered, will only need to be re-entered if the app is deleted or you get a new phone. If Spark prompts for credentials, please call Customer Support for credentials, and then enter them following the below steps:
  1. Open the Spark app.
  2. Tap "Get Started" button.
  3. Enter the division #, user ID or email, and password provided by M.R. Williams
  4. Tap save
  5. With your credentials entered and saved, the app will prompt you to complete a sync. Ensure you are connected to WiFi and power, then tap "Sync". If credentials were entered correctly, the sync process will begin and a progress bar will appear. If an error occurs, please email or call for further assistance.

Order

With Spark you can use the built-in scanner (triggered with the press of the physical blue button on the side of the device) to scan in a grocery order. You may also create a template of items you routinely order. Both methods can be used interchangeably to complete a single order. Before beginning a order for the day, always ensure you did a sync earlier in the day.
  1. Open Spark
  2. Tap Get Started
  3. Sync with Corporate to get the most up to date price-book or if recently synced, proceed to Work with A Store
  4. Tap Create Order
You are now in the Create Order menu. On this screen you will see the two ways to add items to your order.
  • Scan
    1. Select Scan
    2. Tap "Add" in the top-right corner of the screen
    3. You may now begin scanning in items to your order. Initiate scanning by pressing the blue trigger button on either side of the device.
    4. Upon scanning an item successfully, its information will appear on screen with important details like cost, and pack size. You may increment the order quantity by tapping the plus button, or tapping in the quantity field to bring up a keypad. You may also scan the item multiple times in a row to increment up the item.
Voice prompts will enhance your order experience by letting you know if an item is already on order, if an item quantity has been incremented, or if an item isn't recognized.
  • Template
    1. Select User Templates
    2. On the Order Templates screen you will see a list of templates previously created. You can create new templates or manage/delete existing templates by tapping Manage in the bottom-left of the screen.
    3. On the Manage Templates screen, select the template you wish to manage or tap Add in the top-left of the screen to create a new template.
    4. Once a template is created, select it at any time in the future to see the list of items in that template and quickly increment items you wish to add to your order.
When ready to submit an order, simply select Finish in the bottom-right of the Create Order screen. This will take you to the Order Totals screen. If everything looks good, simply tap Finish Order.

Other order methods and suggested orders: Spark also has many order history driven order methods and regardless of order method will also suggested an order QTY. These features are not yet active, but we will provide you with some guidance on using these features when enabled on your device.

Order Check-in

Order check-in is provided as a way for you to verify your delivery. The invoice will appear on the device the morning of delivery.
  1. Open Spark
  2. Tap Get Started
  3. Sync with Corporate if the device has not yet been synced for the day
  4. Tap Inventory Management
  5. Tap Order Check-in
You are now on the Order Check-in Invoices screen. If there is more than one option, select the one that matches today's delivery. If there are multiple for today's delivery, you will need to complete the below steps for each invoice.
  • Select invoice you want to verify
  • This next screen shows you how many items are on this invoice, separated by area (All, cases, cigs, cooler/freezer). You may select each area and verify it individually. You may also back out of an area and into another without completing an area first.
  • Click on an area (example: "Cigs").
  • Within the area screen you will see all items in that area. You may scroll through and increment the counted QTY to match what was shipped, or you can use the built-in scanner to scan items in any order you wish. The device will jump to the item scanned and increment it up the number of times you scan the item (if 3 packs are delivered, then scan the pack 3 times). As product is verified the screen will show the discrepancy shrink and entirely disappear. Red "not counted" text will be replaced with green "Ok" text.
    • If an item scanned is not in the area, a voice prompt will let you know. You may leave the area and enter it on the correct area screen or set it aside and scan the item once in that area.
    • If an item scanned is not on the invoice, a voice prompt will let you know. You have the option to Keep or Return the item. Your choice will be noted within the area as a Mis-Ship.
  • Once an area is completed a voice prompt will let you know. Back out and proceed to the next area.
  • When all items have been verified, proceed to Sign & Finish. If counts came up short, or unexpected items were scanned, a prompt will tell you issues were detected. You can review these issues (and correct them if necessary) or proceed with completing the check-in.
  • On the next screen you will be prompted to sign.
  • Finally your check-in is ready to be synced off the device. A prompt will ask to Send It Now or Send It Later. Unless you're not connected to the internet, you should always select Send it Now.
  • The device will perform a sync. Stay with the device until a "Sync Completed" screen appears. You are now done with the Order Check-in of the invoice you selected. If there was more than one invoice, repeat this process for all invoices that are tied to your delivery for the day.

If there were discrepancies, they will be noted on a report that both your corporate office receives, as well as Customer Support.

Print

With Spark you can print shelf-tags using a standard 8.5x11 inch laser printer and custom shelf-tag label stock we've commissioned specifically for you. You can order this label stock using item #90159.

For Spark we are recommending a Brother HL series printer that supports Google's Cloud Print (most any new WiFi printer from Brother supports this).
